Scientists in Tennessee, USA, at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, have discovered a method to efficiently turn CO2 into
ethanol & could help avert climate change

The researchers were trying to find a series of chemical reactions that could turn CO2 into a useful fuel, but soon they realised the first step in their process took care of it all by itself. The technology uses copper & carbon arranged into nanospikes on a silicon surface allowing the reaction to be precise & limit any side reactions. The reaction is even more efficient as it works at room temperature, requiring even less energy to start & stop it.
