Facebook-owned Instagram wants to keep users safe from harm & launched a new reporting tool that lets its users flag posts about self-harm. Once flagged a message from Instagram will be sent to the user in question. It will
offer support, tips & access to a help line, which can be accessed directly in the app. Flaggers who report their friends remain anonymous. The message reads: “Someone saw one of your posts & thinks you might be going through a difficult time. If you need support, we’d like to help.” The user can then browse through various support options including a suggestion to message or call a friendly or contact a help line depending on the user’s location. Globally there are 40 organisations which have partnered as a helpline with the system
